Earlier this month DPS students were busy working into their sketchbooks on a variety of themes and today was all about creating fabrics based on this design work. We used compressed foam to made our own stamps... ...of shape and pattern which were then printed onto plain white cotton fabrics using fabric paints. Here are some of the fabrics drying, they will then need to be heat fixed with a hot, dry iron ready for next week when we shall be cutting and sewing with them! They look fabulous don't they? We can't wait to see what they will be sewn into next week.

![]() Today's workshop has seen us exploring hand quilting with a difference, using lots of beautiful threads in rainbow colours to create texture and pattern. ![]() Works in progress.... Last week's Friday Challenge from Creative Journeys in Stitch are finished, or nearly... ... and we are still in love with using thickened Procion dye to colour fabrics!
All the fabrics resist printed by the Inspiration to Stitch students last week are being coloured this week ... with some rather wonderful colour combinations...
In Creative Journeys in Stitch today some were busy with The Friday Challenge, adding shared embellishments and others were busy working on their own theme. Having a great time with the ITS course preparing wax and flour resist fabrics for dyeing next week. The sun is an added bonus as we can dry the fabric outside. Here at InStitches, we have been making the most of the rainy days to get lots of creative work done. We have been working in our sketchbooks, exploring monoprinting and Gelli plates, using transfer paints to colour spun bonded fabrics, dyeing fabric and lots more! Click on each photograph to see who has done what. There has been some stitching too ... ...and there's been a new member of staff! We are busy adding new one day workshops to the web site, ready for the summer programme. Check them out here
