InStitches Privacy Policy

This privacy policy contains information about how we process and protect any personal data you give us or we collect from you during your contact with InStitches. Your information will only be used in ways described in this policy.

We will update this privacy policy from time to time, and the latest version will be published on this page.

Data we collect from you

You give us some personal data when you make a booking or enquiry, complete forms on our website, make purchases in our online shop, sign up for our newsletter or by corresponding with us by telephone, e-mail or social media. The data you give us may include:
  • your name
  • your email address
  • your address and demographic information
  • your telephone number
  • your areas of interest
We do not process or store bank or card payment details as these are handled directly by your bank, by our online shop partner Square or by PayPal (Europe).

On each visit to this website, our website providers (Weebly,Inc, Thinkific Labs Inc or Square), automatically collect technical data, including:
  • the internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your device to the internet
  • browser and plug-in types and versions
  • time zone setting
  • operating system and platform
Similar data about your visit is also collected by Google Analytics, as well as:
  • products and resources you viewed or searched for
  • page response times
  • download errors
  • length of visits to certain pages
  • page interaction information
This data is not shared with us in an identifiable format.

Data storage and security

We will always hold your data securely. InStitches works in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). We only work with trusted partners who have similar safeguards in place.

All the data you give us is stored on secure servers with our website providers (Weebly,Inc or Square), our online course provider (Thinkific Labs Inc), our emailing provider (MailChimp), our accounting package provider (QuickBooks Online), our payment platforms (Square and PayPal (Europe)) or our business software supporters (Microsoft Office 365). We do not currently process payment details as these are handled directly by your bank, by Square or by PayPal (Europe). We do our utmost to protect your personal data, but we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to this website as transfer via the internet is not completely secure; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your data, we will use strict electronic and physical safeguards to prevent unauthorised access.

We store your data for as long as is needed to administer your contact with us (course booking or purchase, or to provide you with newsletter updates during your subscription) and for the minimum time required under tax and VAT laws. After that, it will be deleted from our systems.

How we use your data: general information

Collecting data helps us to provide you with a service and to understand what you are looking for from InStitches, making your experience of dealing with us smoother and more enjoyable.

We may use your data:
  • for our own internal records
  • to contact you in response to an enquiry you make
  • to administer course bookings and send you information about the course or workshop
  • to  process orders from our online shop
  • to improve the products and services we provide
  • to improve the website
  • with your expressed consent - to send you promotional emails about products, services, offers and other things we think you might be interested in

How we use your data: course bookings, gift vouchers or other purchases

By completing the booking form and booking on a workshop you give InStitches permission to store the details you provide (name, email address and phone number) digitally for the purposes of providing you with course information and administration of your booking (invoicing etc). Similarly, by purchasing a gift voucher or other item, you agree to InStitches keeping the details you provide (name, email address, address and phone number) on a database for the purposes administering the gift voucher scheme, or fulfilling your order, only.

Your data will be kept secure.
We use forms on our website provided by Weebly, Inc to collect data submitted by you when you contact us, or ask to be put on a waiting/interested list. They operate in the US and participate in and have certified their compliance with the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework. You can read their privacy policy here.

We use Square, Inc to process payments for courses and other purchases and administer orders in our online shop. They do not share any information that you give them about your payment method with us, except the type of card you have used. You can read their privacy policy

We use forms on our online course website provided by Thinkific Labs Inc to collect your booking/purchase details. They operate in the US and participate in and have certified their compliance with the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework. You can read their privacy policy

We use QuickBooks Online as our accounting and invoicing package. They operate in the US and participate in the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework and comply with the Privacy Shield principles. You can read their privacy policy here.

We may use PayPal (Europe) to collect payment in partnership with QuickBooks Online, or to generate an invoice for non-UK residents. They do not share any information that you give them about your payment method with us. You can read their privacy policy here.



InStitches will NEVER share your data with any other third party.

Your name will not be added to our mailing list. If you wish to join our newsletter email list please click the image below to sign up or select that option on the booking form.

How we use your data: newsletter mailings

InStitches Textile Courses will use the information you provide on the email newsletter sign-up form (name and email address) to send you newsletters and to provide updates and marketing. You will be asked to tick the box to confirm you'd like us to send you newsletters by email.

You can change your mind at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email you receive from us, or by contacting us by email or writing to us at the address below.

We will treat your information with respect. We use MailChimp as our marketing automation platform. They operate in the US and participate in and have certified their compliance with the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework. You can read their privacy policy here.

InStitches will NEVER share your data with any other third party.

How we use your data: photography

We often take photographs of students working and their work for use on our promotional materials (Website, Facebook, Instagram and newsletter).  If you do not wish your work to be featured please let us know at the start of your course.

If we use a photograph of you which you would later like removed, please contact us.

How we use your data: technical

InStitches uses your data in partnership with Weebly, Inc, Thinkific Labs Inc, Square and MailChimp to ensure that our website content and newsletter information is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your device.  We also use your data (in partnership with Weebly,Inc, Thinkific Labs Inc, and Square) as part of our efforts to keep our websites safe and secure, and to comply with any legal obligations.

Any data collected by Weebly, Inc, Square or Google Analytics relating to browsing activity is only shared with us in the form of anonymised trend activity. We have no access to personal data collected in this way.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file placed on your computer's web browser by a website (if you allow it). It enables our website to identify your computer/device when you view different pages . Cookies allow websites and apps to store your preferences in order to show content, options and functions that are specific to you and enhance your visit. They also enable us to see information like how many people use the website and what pages they visit most.
