Create your own cloth - play days are a perfect creative opportunity, whether you are a beginner taking your first steps in creating your own fabric or more experienced but seeking to refresh your surface design skills or simply to top up your stash! We have included all the dyes and prepared fabric in the workshop fee so you can travel light and just concentrate on enjoying the experience!
We will provide tea and coffee but you will need to bring your own packed lunch. There is a fridge, oven and microwave should you wish to warm up your lunch.

In this workshop you will spend the day experimenting with colour, learning how to mix both simple and complex colours using thickened Procion MX dyes to create a colour 'tartan' and if there is time you can start to explore different colour schemes.
These initial colour studies will become an excellent colour reference tool for your future surface design work. Date: Wednesday 24th September 2025

We all need a little bit of colour in our lives, and this workshop will help you on your way! You will learn how to dye using Procion Mx dyes and produce 6 fat quarters in both a graduated colour scheme and a 2-colour exchange scheme. There'll also be time to tray dye for texture and to dye some coordinating threads.
