Studio Days
Everyone needs a place to call their own but sometimes working independently can be a lonely business. We're very lucky that, at long last, we now have a lovely, large and bright studio of our own. And whilst we both have smaller sewing rooms at home, we also know that sometimes to 'get work done' you just need to remove yourself from everyday life; and that's where we can help. The InStitches studio can provide you with time and space, encouragement and that all-important contact with other creative people which is so valuable to us all.
Our studio has plenty of space, variable height tables and good light; it’s warm (or cool...if that's what we need) and fully equipped for dyeing, printing, design and sewing. There’s always a friendly welcome and the support of other textile enthusiasts, and tea, coffee and biscuits on tap.
If you want to dye fabric we have stocks of Procion MX, indigo or acid dyes to use in the studio along with ancillary products. You can bag, bucket or tray dye or paint with liquid or thickened dye; there is often print paste made up, but to be sure do let us know at least 48 hours notice in advance. In the warmer months we open the doors and you can dip into indigo outside.
When you want to print then the tables are all padded and height adjustable, so no more aching backs and make-shift padded tops. Our selection of silk screens is growing and we also have a range of thermofax screens you can use too, as well as mark making tools (ask Hazel and she will introduce you to her potato masher collection...), monoprinting plates and printing blocks.
However, please note Studio Days are intended as time and space for independent work, so to get the most out of the day you must be technically competent for both the techniques and materials you wish to work with.

So what's stopping you - why not come and play at our house? We love working in our studio and we’re sure you will too.
We're so excited we can't wait to welcome you!
