...so no time to blog yesterday because we had to set up and then run our exhibition at Thread. We are here again today, meeting and chatting to lots and lots of lovely people about the courses we are offering this year. There is lots of interest and our thread and fabric packs are proving popular along with our handmade books.

thread…a festival of textiles is a showcase for the many and varied textile notions. Hear expert talks, attend a range of workshops, see demonstrations by local guilds and be inspired by exhibitions of contemporary textile work. Browse a marketplace bustling with artisan fabrics, haberdashery, handcrafted textiles and enjoy meeting the artists who create them. InStitches will be there both days, upstairs in the Barley Room. As well as having some of last year's student sketchbooks and stitched work on show some of our own, newer, work will be on display. No show is complete without a retail opportunity so there will be plenty of our quirky hand-printed and dyed fabrics and threads for sale along with beautiful sketchbooks and cards. Come and see us! Isn't it wonderful? Made using just the fabrics she created at the InStitches summer school: Can't resist it and on the Playing with colour: tray dyeing workshop, Emma has created a riot of summer colour. We cant wait to see how she quilts it.
Over the last week been busy adding new courses to the website: we have completely reviewed our course programme for our second year. There are some old favourites, some that have been revamped and some that are brand new. Our popular year-long course, Inspiration to Stitch is continuing. It's filling up fast so don't leave it too long to book your place if you are interested. If you want to learn a new skill or take your work to the next level why not try one, or several, of our Pick'n'Mix short courses and workshops? Short courses run over six weeks, mornings or afternoons - so you have plenty of time to work on your creation. Over the next few months we'll be exploring quilting by hand and machine, appliqué and altered books. Workshops last for one day - perfect for a little escape! We have grouped them into themes to help you plan, and we'll be adding more throughout the year. Book one as a taster or put together your own programme - mixing and matching different techniques to suit your interests or skill level. Whether you choose rainbow dyeing, hand quilting, book making, embellished book wraps or one of the others you're sure to have a great time with other creative people. Why not follow the links to the website to check them out - we hope you'll like what is on offer and that we'll see you on a course soon! Terry & Hazel |
