Have they had too much of the Christmas spirit?, lost the plot? Or are they just having creative fun?

Set the town alight!

Today we have had a wonderful creative day with our first guest tutor, Anne Moore.  Anne makes  fantastic 3d textile 'architectural' pieces, the ones below feature the London landmarks.
But for us she designed a special winter town scene, just to put us in the Christmas mood! This little townscape can be left open or closed to  wrap around a night-light or a string of tiny LED bulbs.  Magical!

We had a full class, so soon everyone was busy cutting, fusing, printing and sewing!  Naturally there was plenty of chat too ...
Here are a few Christmas towns in progress, dont they look wonderful? they still need the finishing touches and then a sprinkle of Christmas magic to make them light up - Cool!  As the houses are finished we shall post them on our Pinterest board - come and visit us there!
What more could they ask for? - Hand-made biscuits with morning coffee, a choice of home-made soups, fresh bread and a cheeseboard for lunch with two types of cake with afternoon tea, as well a full day sewing with friends, and if they were not friends when they arrived everyone certainly left with new friends at the end of the day!

Our first guest tutor day certainly got us off to a great start.  If you would like to join us on one of our special days then keep an eye on our blog or follow us on Facebook for the next ones - we promise that you won't be disappointed!

Joining the pieces...

Bev is busy trying out different combinations with her graphic black and white ( with the odd red Scottie!) and red fabrics.

Fiona has chosen a Kaffe Fassett bold print for her background fabric, which is proving a bit tricky at the moment, but in the end it is sure to become a stunning quilt.
Fiona is having fun trying out different patterns combinations...
...whilst Lyn is working out which Christmas her's will be ready for!

The wonderful thing about the Recipe Quilt is that whilst everyone sews the same units, because everyone has different fabric choices they are looking very individual and we can't wait to see how they will turn out.
