Rebecca Bennett - Needle felted land or seascapes
Rebecca is a local mixed media artist with a passion for inspiring and enthusing students with a desire to be creative. Following a degree in Fine Art Sculpture Rebecca worked as an Art and Design teacher in both the UK and USA. Her sculptural works have been displayed in both the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol and The Royal Society Of British Sculptors in London.
Using one of your own photographs as inspiration, or one of the many Rebecca will bring with her, you will begin composing your land or seascape. Rebecca will be on hand to show you how to layer and blend the fibres to capture your chosen scene. As you learn how the material works and practise the hand needle felting techniques, you'll begin to build confidence with the material and process.
You can add more texture and interest with colourful strips of fabric and lace sewn in by either hand or free machine embroidery.
The image is just the starting point, as your piece will naturally develop and change slightly as you work with the felt, so don’t worry if you don’t have a specific image to work from. You might choose to focus on just one final piece, or alternatively create a series to show, for example, a sunset, a sunrise, something you have captured on holiday or maybe a special place. This workshop is suitable for beginners or those with some experience. |
Included in the workshop fee are all the materials and a shadow box frame (18 x 18 cm) for you to create one picture, scrumptious biscuits with your morning coffee, a light seasonal lunch and a 'naughty, but nice' cake with a pot of afternoon tea.
