Rosie James - Stitch Draw books
Rosie James is an artist working mostly in textiles and her work explores the use of the sewing machine as a tool for drawing. She works mainly with the kinds of crowds that form when people gather, looking for the individual within the crowd.
Rosie's work encompasses the use of the stitched line to create drawings which explore the whole world of stitch, textiles, fashion, craft etc and the ways in which stitching and textiles figure in our everyday lives is a continuing fascination for her. Rosie also uses screen printing as well as machine stitching and applique to create layers of imagery.
In this workshop you will explore ways of drawing with your sewing machine, set up for free machine embroidery. Rosie will focus on people and figures using photographs and fashion magazines. You'll be able to add texture and interest with colourful fabric scraps and Bondaweb applique.
