Wendy Dolan - Stitched landscapes
Wendy Dolan is a textile artist living in Sussex, who uses fabrics and threads to create textured designs, specialising in freehand machine embroidery and related creative stitching techniques.
Living close to the South Downs, the landscape provides a constant source of inspiration for Wendy's stitched textile designs; she records her ideas with sketch, torn paper collage and her camera which is always on hand.
Wendy's current theme, A Sense of Place, records memorable journeys and locations, using fabric, stitch and texture. Landscapes, textures, and patterns also provide a wealth of ideas which she enjoys exploring.
In this workshop you will develop landscape designs by piecing, layering and stitching a background of textured fabrics. This textured surface will then be painted and worked into with freehand machine embroidery, adding details of trees, foliage etc.
Whether you are a beginner or have plenty of experience this workshop is suitable for anyone interested in working creatively with fabric and thread.
