Wendy Dolan - Architecture in stitch
Wendy Dolan is a textile artist living in Sussex, who uses fabrics and threads to create textured designs, specialising in freehand machine embroidery and related creative stitching techniques.
Living close to the South Downs, the landscape provides a constant source of inspiration for Wendy's stitched textile designs; she records her ideas with sketch, torn paper collage and her camera which is always on hand.
Wendy's current theme, A Sense of Place, records memorable journeys and locations, using fabric, stitch and texture. Architectural structures, textures, and patterns also provide a wealth of ideas which she enjoys exploring.
We all have special places and journeys we like to remember and in this two day workshop with Wendy you'll have opportunity to explore the making of your own 'sense of place'. You'll develop an individual design, working from your own reference material, photographs or drawings. Natural fabrics will be pieced, layered and stitched, creating exciting textured surfaces.
