Stitching by Design

A sketchbook full of ideas, but struggling to turn it into a creative textile?
Picture

We all need a guiding hand every now and then;  Stitching by Design aims not to teach you how to sew, but what to sew!  We will help you in the decision making process, guide you in the choice of techniques and before too long you'll be getting out of the sketchbook and into fabric and thread!
You will develop the design skills needed to create  original work using your sketchbook as a starting point.  This stitched textile could be a quilt, a wall hanging, a mixed media piece, a garment or anything else you wish to sew! Together we will bring out the best of your skills and design inspiration.

This course is a great follow-on from our Inspiration to Stitch course or if you have some sewing experience or patchwork and quilting skills and want to develop your practical design skills and start to create original work.

Unfortunately if you are new to sewing this isn't the course for you, perhaps one of our short courses or one-day workshops would be more suitable?
Stitching by Design will run on a Tuesday for 10 sessions.

Course dates for 2020/21 can be found here.

Please note: We are now taking bookings for this course and fully intend that it will start as advertised in October. That may mean that we  have to be creative in the delivery of the course due to the ongoing coronavirus situation.  So instead of being held in the studio the initial sessions could consist of a combination of videos,  Zoom meetings and written materials.

Don't worry!  This will still be a vibrant, engaging and inspirational course and we will be together in the InStitches studio as soon as we possibly can.

Come and join us, be inspired!
Please arrive at 9.15 am. for a prompt 9.30 am start; the day will end about 4 pm. We'll proved tea and coffee but you'll need to bring your own lunch.

Stop Press! This course has just 2 places left!

Cost: £545 (includes some materials)
A £115 deposit will secure your place.
The balance of £430 will be due approx. five weeks before the start of the course.
