Kate Findlay - Magical lanterns
Berkshire artist Kate Findlay can't think of anything she likes doing more than starting with an idea, and developing it through the use of colour and composition until it becomes a new work of art.
In this one-day workshop with Kate you will use transfer paints and Lutradur to create a decorative surface. You will then embellish the surface with beautiful gauzes and sheer fabrics, combined with stitching as desired to create a unique lantern. Kate will show you how to decorate your lantern but the final design will be unique to you.
What makes this project really different and special is the use of LED components (which can change colour!) and Kate will show you how to hand sew e-textile components and circuitry into the lantern. These are specially designed for sewing, which will make your light shine! Everyone loves this workshop for the creativity and sense of achievement in making the circuit work! |
Whether you are a beginner or have plenty of experience this workshop is suitable for anyone interested in working creatively with fabric, thread, and paint.
Scrumptious biscuits with your morning coffee, a light seasonal lunch and a 'naughty, but nice' cake with a pot of afternoon tea. All this and a day being creative in the company of like minded people, what's not to like?
