Debbie Lyddon - Stitched collage workshop
Inspired by landscape and place, Debbie uses mixed media and textiles to create sculptural pieces, installations and drawings. She explores the natural processes of change that occur in the coastal environment of Norfolk where she is partly based, paying attention to things that are seen and also by sounds, happenings and touch.
She enjoys the process of making and constructing with cloth, and experiments with non-traditional coastal materials such as salt, seawater and bitumen to change the natural qualities of the cloth.
In her words: "My practice aims to present a multi-sensory interpretation of my surroundings – one that can be seen, touched and heard."

Collage is a flexible and fluid way of working that enables you to arrange and rearrange cut pieces of paper or cloth to make a balanced composition of form and colour.
In this workshop you will produce two finished collages inspired by an object or photograph of your choice, one with paper and one with cloth. You'll learn how to mix colours to paint your paper and cloth and then Debbie will guide you though designing your collage, looking particularly at shape and placement. You'll explore hand and machine stitch to add lines and texture, and add a different dimension with wax and shoe polish.

During this relaxed workshop Debbie will provide plenty of inspiration and guidance, so whether you are a beginner or have plenty of experience if you are interested in working creatively with fabric, thread, paper and paint you are bound to find new avenues to explore.
Scrumptious biscuits with your morning coffee, a light seasonal lunch and a 'naughty, but nice' cake with a pot of afternoon tea. All this and a day being creative in the company of like minded people, what's not to like?
