Rust marks - with Alice Fox
We are really pleased to welcome back textile artist Alice Fox to the InStitches Studio. Based in West Yorkshire, Alice has a fascination for the detail of the natural world: working in print, stitch and weave and harnessing natural processes, using found objects and materials as tangible links to landscapes.
Using an experimental approach and found metal you will explore methods for transferring marks onto paper and fabric, discovering the possibilities of a range of objects and producing a series of unique prints and marks.
We will respond to and add to our marks with hand stitch to make a series of small assemblages, collages and samples as starting points for further work.
Bring along some rusty objects of your own as a starting point and see what potential they hold (washers, nails, bottle tops, a rusty tin can or old tools are all ideal).

Whether you are a beginner or have plenty of experience this workshop is suitable for anyone interested in working creatively with fabric, thread, paper and rust.
