Alice Fox - Natural Structures

Using natural 3-Dimensional forms
as a starting point
for exploring structures with textile artist Alice Fox

Picture
We are really pleased to welcome back our friend and textile artist Alice Fox to the InStitches Studio.  Based in West Yorkshire, Alice has a fascination for the detail of the natural world: working in print, stitch and weave and harnessing natural processes, using found objects and materials as tangible links to landscapes.
In this workshop Alice invites you to look closely at structures that are formed by insects and plants, often involving the disruption of a host organism or created as structures within which change will take place.

You'll explore the structures through various drawing exercises and collage as well as construction techniques, using paper, thread, cloth and other mixed media.

By the end of the three-day workshop you will have built up a collection of experimental samples for use in future creative work or as beautiful and curious artefacts in their own right.

Whether you are a beginner or have plenty of experience this workshop is suitable for anyone interested in working creatively with fabric, thread and paper.
