Botanical books - with Alice Fox

Learn a variety of book structures and turn your printed papers into a series of beautiful botanically printed books with textile artist Alice Fox

Picture
Once again, we are delighted to welcome textile artist  Alice Fox.  This will be Alice's third visit  to the InStitches Studio and this time she will be indulging our passion for making handmade books!

Based in West Yorkshire, Alice has a fascination for the detail of the natural world: working in print, stitch and weave and harnessing natural processes, using found objects and materials as tangible links to landscapes.

In this two day workshop you will explore a series of simple but effective techniques for making marks on paper using plant material, including botanical contact printing (eco-printing), mono-printing, frottage and text.

Alice will show you how to construct a variety of book structures, from the very simple folded forms through to some stitched bindings and you will turn your printed papers into a series of beautiful botanically printed books.

InStitches will provide most of the materials you will need for this workshop but you can also bring a selection of your own fabric and papers scraps and threads to work with.
