Simon Webb - Bunkerline Bears
Meet the gang! Mr Bear, Arthur and Ned are just a few of the bears made by Simon Webb, the Welsh bear maker extraordinaire! We first met Simon at Thread when he bought some of our hand dyed thread - we just couldn't believe it when he said it was to stitch a bear's nose! We met up with him again a little while later, when we were all teaching in the wilds of Birmingham and just knew we had to invite him to the studio.
Over this two day workshop Simon will guide you through the cutting and stitching as you create your very own, totally unique, bear. Patterns, stuffing and 'gubbins' will all be provided, however as the 'fabric makes the bear' you will need to bring your own fabric. On the requirements list we shall give you plenty of ideas and also stockists of suitable bear fur fabrics. However Simon's bears can be created from a wide selection of different fabrics including boiled wools, furnishing fabrics, ticking ...
...and as the photograph above shows, old plaid dressing gowns!
To get the most out of this workshop you do need to be a confident machine stitcher. Bear wrangling is a skill but we are sure you will love the final result!
Date: Thursday 26th & Friday 27th October 2017
The studio will be open from 9am and the workshop will start at 9.30am until 4.30pm (ish) each day.
An £80 deposit will secure your place.
As well as a light seasonal lunch and refreshments, some of the materials required for this workshop are included in the fee.
